Shin splints, or medial tibial stress syndrome are a common complaint, typically among runners and other athletes. They usually develop over time when there is constant and repetitive stress placed on the shinbone and the connective tissues that attach your muscles to your bones. Symptoms are usually pain in the front or inside aspect of the lower leg due to overexertion of the muscles. The pain can become more intense if not addressed, and shin splints should not be left untreated because of an increased risk of developing stress fractures. The best way to prevent shin splints is to stretch and strengthen the leg muscles, wear footwear with good shock absorption such as orthotics that offer arch support for over-pronation. Doctors' Foot Labs Custom Orthotics will provide relief of pain from this syndrome. See our complete line of orthotics to find a custom solution. Or Call us directly at: 800-852-4056
